2021-2022 Queen of All Saints School of Religion – Level 7: Pre-Confirmation Preparation Class
Catechist: Mr. Kevin Davis
Welcome!
Level 7 is intended for students in seventh grade who received the sacraments of first penance and reconciliation, and first eucharist also known as first holy communion from the previous year/s. This is the first year of the two year confirmation preparation program. The diocese prescribes that the sacrament of confirmation be conferred to children no earlier than eight grade.
It is imperative and very important that the students attend Sunday mass, and class, and that the parent/s or legal guardian attend Sunday mass, and proximate sessions. This is the basic requirement so the children preparing for the sacrament of confirmation will be drawn closer to the Lord as they receive and encounter the Lord in the sacraments and the church. After this year, students are expected to continue their ongoing sacramental formation in level 8, whereas by the gifts of the Holy Spirit they will be prepared and empowered to live as mature disciples and members of the church.
Ongoing formations along with accompaniment in faith both by the parent and parish community are ideal to help strengthen their faith and love for God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the church. This should also lead to a gradual preparation for confirmation when they reach the proper age or grade level prescribed by the diocese.
During the course of the year we will be using our primary textbook published by Loyola Press entitled Finding God Our Response to God’s Gifts Grade 7 2021 edition, along with the The Catholic Youth Bible NABRE 4th Edition published by St. Mary’s Press. Additional handouts may be given during class, and or sent via email to the parents.

*Students who completed their sixth grade are encouraged to consider becoming an altar server. This will be a good time as well to find ways of committing to serving the community, and the parish. In level 8, the students are required to complete discipleship (service) hours.
